Lockhart’s Lament, My Inspiration
A series inspired by Paul Lockhart’s essay “A Mathematician’s Lament.” It is a meditation on Art, Mathematics and Education.
- Why Them Kids Don’t Learn Nothing - Education has failed all subjects equally, and in the same way. It’s just that we only care about the subjects we liked.
- If Triangles Could Fly - Is art a process of creation or one of discovery?
- How I Leaned to Stop Caring and Love the Verse - A more personal look at how we teach things; this is a story of my experience learning poetry in school.
FAWM Madness With Denys Gareau
Once a year, musicians across the globe try to write a lot of songs during the shortest month of the year. It’s called FAWM: Feburary Album Writing Month. This is a series of interviews conducted with Denys Gareau, one of FAWM’s participants. Last year he ended up with a full album. Will he make it through for a second year?
- January 31, 2008 - This interview was conducted just hours before FAWM 2008 began.
- February 10, 2008 - Now over a week in, we talk to Denys to see how this year is treating him so far, and how it’s different from last year.
- February 24, 2008 - As the month comes to a close, I talk to Denys about the FAWM community, and how such an intensive process effects his real-world relationships
- Part 4 coming soon
